• 4.0 out of 5 stars from Scott Johnson -- Very factual, but sometimes read like an editorial. : I grew up in the same era as the author, pouring over Auto Club and Thomas Guide maps in my youth, and have been a student of the LA Freeway system for over 40 years. The author certainly know his freeways and I have learned quite a bit from his insight. His sidebar bits of trivia, on almost every page, certainly added to my enjoyment. That being said, the author certainly like to inject politics into his writing, basically that the white man is bad and all immigrants or low income people are victims. It became very tiring. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Michael D. Wynsen -- L.A. history was never so fun! : I loved “10,000 Steps a Day in L.A.” and had to get this – thought I’d like it but didn’t realize how much! An extremely engaging book on a topic that so many of us Angelenos take for granted. The author writes in a tone that is breezy, accessible and often very witty. I learned so much not just about freeway lexicon (Botts Dots!!), but Los Angeles in general. The book does an excellent job in tracing how freeways informed L.A. and vice versa. Great photos too.
