I've read other books that had an MC that was overweight, but none of them really focused on the underlying reasons behind it. Our society puts a lot of emphasis on outward beauty and being a certain body size. It's really easy to get sucked into that mindset and lose yourself in the process. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from Sandilicious -- Everyone Deserves Love : This was an awesome book featuring Carter, an overweight guy who lost his job and is continually harped on by an overbearing mother about his weight. He meets Sam at the gym his mother buys a membership to and a friendship begins. Carter just wants to be accepted for who he is, a boy at heart, and Sam is the Daddy who comes into his life just in time to help heal his wounded heart. Sam lifts him up and supports Carter as he struggles with an eating disorder. I'm happy that they got their HEA even though it was a rough road with many setbacks. Words can leave a lasting impact on the mind and both characters were written so well you can actually relate to them. Like all of us he tends to focus on the negatives about himself. And his family, like many, give the kind of "help" that just reinforce the negative thoughts. When Samuel enters his life he understands the struggles that Carter faces. As Sam, like a good Daddy does, helps Carter to learn to focus on more positive ways to deal with his issues you see Carter blossom. I've cringed when someone wanted to touch my stomach. My heart connected with him right away. Samuel came into his life at the perfect time. He recognized that Carter was heading down a path of self destruction but at the same time couldn't fight his desire to be Daddy!! Samuel & Carter are beautiful together poor Carter so special just want to give him a hug he's always struggled with his weight suffering from a eating disorder depressed with losing is job and what with is family saying he's too big needs to loose weight you feel for him. Samuel's a personal trainer and as soon as he meets Carter he knows he's special just the way he is and shows him that he doesn't need to change he becomes is daddy loving, guiding and protecting him wow what a Daddy showing him its what's inside a person that counts he sees his beautiful soul that everyone is special. I felt overall it just had this undercurrent of something juvenile about it. It didn't flow well and the Daddy/boy part was basically non existent. This is not a series i'll be continuing with. The issues are deep but the story is not, everything coming together for a hea for all. Good if slightly unrealistic read.
